1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how the developer identified for Cheekful in the Apple App Store listing (“Cheekful,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) processes personal data when you use the Cheekful mobile application, its share extension, and cheekful.food (collectively, the “Service”).

For privacy questions or requests, use the App Support contact details published with Cheekful’s App Store listing. Those details identify the responsible developer and are the official privacy contact for the Service.

2. Data we process

• Account data: an anonymous account identifier and, if you choose to link an account, identity information supplied by Apple or Google, such as your provider identifier, name, and email address.
• Content and preferences: recipes, ingredients, instructions, notes, cookbooks, grocery lists, meal plans, dietary preferences, allergens, onboarding choices, and profile name.
• Import data: links or text you submit, recipe photos you select, resolved captions or transcripts, source attribution, processing status, and generated recipe structure.
• AI data: messages you send to the AI assistant, the recipe content you choose to process, generated suggestions, and your explicit apply, reject, or revert actions. AI suggestions do not modify a recipe unless you select the applicable confirmation control.
• Subscription and notification data: subscription product, entitlement, transaction status, notification permission, APNs device token, and limited notification-routing identifiers. We do not receive your full payment-card details.
• Technical and security data: request or job identifier, processing stage, outcome, machine-readable error code, timing, device or app version information made available by the platform, and security events needed to operate and protect the Service.

3. How and why we use data

We process data to:

• create and protect your account and synchronize your recipe library;
• import, organize, translate, share, and save recipes at your request;
• provide AI-assisted recipe creation and editing when you choose to use it;
• deliver transactional import notifications you enable;
• verify and manage Cheekful Pro access and purchases;
• prevent abuse, enforce quotas, diagnose failures, and secure the Service;
• comply with law and respond to valid legal requests.

Depending on where you live, our legal bases are performance of our contract with you, your consent, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent where consent is the applicable basis, without affecting earlier lawful processing.

4. Service providers and disclosures

We disclose data only as needed to operate a requested feature or meet a legal obligation. Providers may include:

• Supabase: authentication, database, storage, realtime synchronization, and server functions.
• Apple and Google: optional account linking; Apple also provides App Store purchases and APNs notifications.
• OpenAI: recipe structuring, transcription, image reading, and AI assistant responses.
• Apify: resolution of supported social-media links submitted for import.
• Google Cloud Translation: recipe translation you request.
• Pexels: generic food-image searches derived from a recipe title and general ingredients, without raw chat messages or account identifiers.
• RevenueCat: subscription and entitlement management.
• Cloudflare: delivery and protection of cheekful.food.

We may also disclose data when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or transfer of the Service, subject to applicable notice requirements. We do not sell personal data, serve advertisements, use behavioral analytics, or engage in cross-app tracking.

5. International processing

Our providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on recognized transfer mechanisms and provider safeguards. Local privacy rights and mandatory protections remain applicable to you.

6. Retention and deletion

Account and recipe data is retained while your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Temporary import photos are deleted after processing; failed temporary files are removed through operational cleanup. Normalized import results may be cached for up to 30 days to avoid repeated processing. Operational and security records are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for troubleshooting, abuse prevention, legal compliance, and dispute resolution.

Deleting an individual recipe removes it from your active library and may use a limited soft-deletion period for reliability. Selecting “Delete my account” in the Account screen permanently deletes your account and associated user data, except information we must retain for legal, fraud-prevention, transaction, or security purposes.

7. Your choices and rights

You can edit or delete content in the app, withdraw notification permission in iOS Settings, manage your Apple subscription, unlink or sign out of a connected account, and delete your account from the Account screen. Depending on your location, you may also request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or objection, and may complain to your local data-protection authority.

Submit a request through the App Support contact identified in the App Store listing. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

8. Security

We use access controls, row-level database security, encrypted network transport, least-privilege service roles, and limited operational logs. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

Cheekful is not directed to children under 13, or a higher minimum age required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal data from a child below the applicable age without valid parental authorization. Contact us through App Support if you believe a child provided data improperly.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Policy as the Service, providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date above will be revised, and we will provide additional notice when required by law. Continued use after an update is subject to the rights and notices required in your jurisdiction.
